George Walker Jenks (March 10, 1831 to March 19, 1902) - George Walker was born in Saybrook, Ashtabula, Ohio. He was the eigth child of Dr. Solomon Jenks and Lydia Walker. He served as Captain in the 32nd Illinois Regiment in the Civil War.
He first married Sarah Metz and had four children with her. The firstborn child died in infancy. Sarah also had Harriet W., Henry R., and George L. All were born in Du Quoin, Perry, Illinois.
George's second wife was Harriett Fenn. They were married on April 16, 1875. They had two children together; Harry and Emma. They were divorced before 1878.
George's third, and final, wife was Mary Bigelow Tuthill. They married on December 31, 1878, in DuQuoin, Perry, Illinois. They had two children, Harlan Walker and Marion. George Walker Jenks died in Harrison, Citrus, Florida, and was buried in Anna, Union, Illinois.
Sarah Metz (Unknown) Little is known of Sarah Metz other than she bore four children to her union with George Walker Jenks. Three of her offspring are listed on the 1880 census as living with George Walker and Mary B. Speculation leads me to believe that she passed away before George's second marriage as children often lived with their mother if there was a divorce, which was uncommon, during that era.
Harriett Fenn (Unknown) Harriett Fenn was born in Vergennes, Illinois. She married George Walker Jenks on April 16, 1875. She bore two children to the union, Harry and Emma. Harriett and George were divorced before 1878.
Mary Bigelow Tuthill (July 21, 1840 to January 16, 1927) Mary was George Walker's third and final wife. She was born in DuQuoin, Perry, Illinois. She married George Walker on December 31, 1878, in DuQuoin, Perry, Illinois. They had two children, Harlan Walker and Marion. She is listed on the 1880 census along with George W., her step-children; Harriet W., Henry R., and George L., and her biological children; Harlan W. and Marion B. Mary died January 16, 1927, in Washington City, D.C. She is buried in The City of Anna Cemetary in Union County, Illinois.
